Assignment 2 - HTML - How easy it is!
-
Browse the information describing
HTML.
We will use an HTML Editor from America On Line that was freely distributed
in the past, called (we'll ftp a copy and install it on the class machines,
together with a tutorial). Alternatively, you can learn using the Netscape
Communicator with the AOLPress tutorial or the
Netscape
HTML editing site. If you are at Penn State, you can use Microsoft's
Frontpage HTML editor on the lab computers used for this course. Also note
that you can add Internet Assistant features to Microsoft Word, and have
that word processor mark up documents simply by selecting HTML format upon
saving them. However, you will be somewhat limited in terms of the mark up
features that you have at your disposal.
-
Create your homepage with the following elements, organized as you see fit.
-
A small picture of yourself.
-
A link to your email address (mailto://you@where).
-
A paragraph on who you are.
-
A paragraph on why you are taking this course, including a bulleted list
of what you want to learn.
-
A 4 x 5 table
that will become filled in with links to your homework assignments, and
any other links you might like to have in the table.
-
A form link for searching the WebCrawler. (more about forms in the next lesson
- you may postpone this until after the next lesson).
-
Use FTP to put a copy to the Millreef server (only local students will be
able to do this.) Verify that it is accessible from a browser such as Netscape.
