One of the most important things to do in college (hopefully right away) is to come up with a system of study techniques that works for YOU. Everyone learns in different ways. Learn how you learn best.
The things you did in high school may not have been the best methods for you as an individual. The problem is, high school was so much easier than college you may not even be aware that your study techniques were not appropriate.
The realization that old high school study habits are ineffective usually doesn't become apparent to students until after the freshman year. By then some students unfortunately come to believe that they can't do any better. They never reach their full potential and in the worst cases, drop out.
