Molecular Biology of the Gene, by Watson et al., is a bit dated but is a model of clarity in presentation.

Principles of Biochemistry, by Lehninger, Nelson and Cox, presents in Chapters 23 through 28 an excellent overview of the biochemistry of the topics we cover. This is the text for Bioch 401 and 402.

Biochemistry of the Nucleic Acids, by Adams, Knowler and Adams, is well-organized, clear and comprehensive, but quite didactic. I use it frequently for reference.

DNA Replication, by Kornberg and Baker, is the Bible for the enzymology of replication. If you are confused about anything in replication, repair, or recombination, consult Kornberg.

Biochemistry: A Problems Approach, by Wood et al. is a great source of problems that illustrate and magnify on the topics we cover. A few of the problems on reassociation kinetics have been edited and used in your course packet.
