About UsFacilities
Center for Biomolecular AnalysisThe center for biomolecular analysis is located on the second floor of Althouse lab and houses equipment available to researchers at Penn State for use in biomolecular analyses. Shared Technology Facilities, Huck Institutes of the Life SciencesThe Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences manages a number of facilities providing state-of-the art equipment for use in research projects. These facilities include the Bioinformatics Consulting Center, Center For Quantitative Cell Analysis, DNA Microarray Facility, Electron Microscopy Facility, Hybridoma And Cell Culture Facility, Macromolecular X-Ray Cyrstallography Facility, Nucleic Acid Facility, Proteomics And Mass Spectometry Core Facility, Transgenic Mouse Facility Shared Bioprocess FacilityThe Shared Bioprocess Facility is situated in room 160 N. Frear and facilitates biological research by providing pilot-scale fermentation, downstream processing and purification capabilities beyond the scale available to most researchers. Capabilities of the facility include: aerobic and anaerobic fermentations from 10 to 60 liters, continuous flow centrifugation, large-scale homogenization and bead milling, anaerobic work environment, state-of-the-art protein purification equipment, analytical support (spec, HPLC, GC).
